ABC Landline | Developing a new biological control to support our rabbit control program and reduce feral rabbit numbers.

We were proud to feature on ABC Landline, highlighting the ongoing challenge of managing Australia's feral rabbit population and the significance of integrated pest management in this effort.

The story explores research into a new biological control that could contribute to our rabbit control program and help decrease rabbit numbers in the future.

Another successful integrated pest management program has been completed.

Vic Feral Eradication was proud to collaborate with Complete Vertebrate Pest Management on a large-scale rabbit control program and fox control initiative, achieving outstanding results over an eight-day operation.

Program results:

• 44 foxes removed over 3 nights of targeted ground shooting.

• 169 rabbit warrens treated over 5 days.

• 717 individual warren entrances fumigated, treated, and sealed.

Professional Shooters Checklist.

The Foundation for Rabbit-Free Australia has developed a practical checklist to assist landholders in conducting thorough due diligence when selecting a professional contractor for their rabbit control program. This checklist is rooted in the principles of integrated pest management and draws heavily from an original resource created by Vic Feral Eradication Director Noel Bauer, who has decades of experience in delivering effective rabbit control and pest management programs throughout Victoria.

Rabbit control trial extended to Lake Pertobe.

Following the success of Vic Feral Eradication's rabbit control program in Warrnambool City Council's holiday parks, integrated pest management strategies have now expanded into Lake Pertobe. The program has shown that targeted, professional rabbit control can significantly reduce rabbit populations while effectively protecting public spaces, native vegetation, and community assets.

Striking images highlight the devastating impact that invasive rabbits are having on Australian caravan parks.

Earlier this year, Vic Feral Eradication implemented a targeted peri-urban rabbit control program, successfully removing over 1,200 rabbits from two holiday parks in Warrnambool. The results speak for themselves. By significantly reducing rabbit numbers through integrated pest management strategies, the program has helped protect park infrastructure, enhance public safety, reduce environmental damage, and support the recovery of native vegetation.

670 Eradicated: Council's Rabbit Control Program to Expand Following Success.

A successful rabbit control program, part of an integrated pest management strategy delivered by Vic Feral Eradication, is set to expand after more than 670 rabbits were removed. This significant reduction in rabbit numbers has greatly mitigated the damage they were causing.

The outstanding results have demonstrated the effectiveness of targeted, professional rabbit management, leading to plans for the expansion of the program into additional areas.

Targeted Rabbit Control Program Returns to Port Fairy.

Following the success of earlier operations, Vic Feral Eradication will once again implement a targeted rabbit control program at Gardens and Southcombe Caravan Parks in Port Fairy. This program is an essential part of an ongoing integrated pest management strategy aimed at reducing rabbit populations and minimizing the significant environmental and infrastructure damage caused by this invasive pest species.

Photos Show the Destruction as Invasive Rabbits Take Over Australian Caravan Parks.

Hundreds of rabbits were removed by Vic Feral Eradication as part of an integrated pest management strategy through a targeted rabbit control program across Warrnambool's caravan parks. This initiative highlighted the significant impact that invasive rabbits were having on these popular community spaces.

The rabbit control program not only reduced rabbit populations but also helped protect park infrastructure, native vegetation, and public safety. If unmanaged, burrowing rabbits can undermine roads, campsites, pathways, and buildings, causing extensive environmental damage.
