Emergency Animal Welfare Support
During emergencies such as bushfires, floods, storm events, and transport incidents, wildlife and livestock can be left injured, trapped, displaced, or suffering, highlighting the critical need for effective emergency animal welfare measures. Where we are safely and legally able to assist, VFE is committed to supporting these vital emergency animal welfare outcomes.
We proudly offer assistance at no cost to government agencies, emergency services, wildlife organisations, and community groups, where practical and operationally possible. Our support may include:
- Humane euthanasia of severely injured wildlife or livestock using humane control methods
- Assistance during livestock or animal transport incidents
- Support during bushfire and flood response operations
- Animal welfare assistance in difficult-access environments
- Coordination with emergency services and authorised agencies
- Use of thermal equipment and field-based capabilities to assist in locating animals
